Members of the Venezuelian community hold black crosses with names of victims of clashes with police during protests against Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro, on May 7, 2017 at St Peter's square before the Regina Coeli prayer of Pope Francis in Vatican. Pope Francis last week made a heartfelt appeal for "negotiated solutions" to end the violence in crisis-torn Venezuela for the sake of an "exhausted population". The death toll since April -- when the protests intensified after Maduro's administration and the courts stepped up efforts to undermine the opposition -- is at least 36, according to prosecutors, with hundreds more injured. / AFP PHOTO / TIZIANA FABI
